Google Ads management pricing: fee, setup and ad budget

Google Ads management pricing has three parts: your ad budget, paid directly to Google, a monthly management fee and a one-time setup fee. Our fees start from €340 per month for a simple local campaign and from €680 for ecommerce. All prices are excl. VAT.

What Google Ads management costs

The ad budget is paid directly to Google. The monthly management fee pays for running and optimising the account. The one-time setup fee covers the work before launch, or before we take over an existing account. The figures below are indicative starting points, and the final quote depends on scope.

The ad budget is not included in the fee. If you spend €2,300 a month on ads and the fee is €570, then €2,300 goes to Google, not €2,870. A larger budget does not automatically mean a higher fee, because the fee follows workload. It rises when the scope grows, with more campaigns, markets, products, tests or reports.

We manage accounts with ad budgets up to about €115,000 per month. Large accounts and multi-market setups are quoted individually.

What the one-time setup can include

Setup is the work done before launch or before taking over an account, and its scope depends on whether the account is new or needs cleaning up. It should never be billed without a clear scope, and the offer should say which items later move into monthly management.

  • An audit of the account and earlier campaigns
  • Market, competitor and search term analysis
  • Campaign structure design
  • Ad and asset preparation
  • Conversion tracking setup or repair
  • Linking Google Ads with GA4, Google Tag Manager or Merchant Center
  • Dashboard and reporting setup
  • CRM or offline sales integration

What monthly management includes

Ongoing work goes well beyond the occasional bid change. The cheapest offers may cover only basic account upkeep.

  • Budget pacing and spend control
  • Analysis of campaigns, search terms, audiences and products
  • Excluding low-value traffic
  • Testing ads and messaging
  • Managing bidding strategies
  • Scaling effective campaigns and reducing weak ones
  • Verifying conversion data
  • Reporting and recommendations
  • Advice on offer, feed, UX and sales process

Four billing models

ModelHow it worksBest whenWatch out for
Flat feeA fixed monthly amount for a defined scopeYou want predictable costs and a stable scopeRenegotiate when the project grows, for example new markets, brands or products
Percentage of ad budgetThe fee is a share of ad spendYou want simplicityIt may not match the real workload, so use a minimum fee, thresholds or a cap
HybridA fixed base plus a variable part tied to budget, scale or a pre-agreed resultThe account may grow quickly or span several marketsDefine the thresholds before work starts
Success feePayment tied to a measurable outcome such as revenue, margin, a qualified lead or a meetingThe result can be clearly defined and reliably measuredIt needs a clear definition of success, a data source, rules for refunds and cancelled leads, and a split of credit between ads and sales. It is usually an add-on to a base fee

What affects the price

Price follows workload, not budget size. The main factors are:

  • The monthly ad budget, which does not automatically mean a percentage increase
  • The number of campaigns, services and products
  • The number of markets, languages and accounts
  • The current state of the account and the setup work needed
  • Analytics, integrations and sales data
  • The scope of creative, feed and landing page work
  • The pace of development and level of collaboration, including meetings, reporting and testing

What the fee may not cover

The problem is not the exclusions themselves but learning about extra costs after you sign. Ask what is billed separately, for example:

  • Setup and account restructuring
  • Advanced analytics
  • Graphics, video and product photo sessions
  • Landing pages and development work
  • Feed management
  • External tools and call tracking
  • Campaigns in additional markets
  • Custom reports and frequent meetings

How to compare Google Ads agency offers

Put the same questions to every agency:

  • Is the quoted amount the fee alone, or the fee plus ad budget?
  • How many campaigns, and of which types, are in monthly management?
  • Is setup included or billed separately?
  • How does the price change if the budget doubles?
  • What is the reporting format, and how often are results reviewed?
  • Are creative, feed work and landing pages included?
  • Who owns the Google Ads account after the contract ends?
  • What is the notice period, and is there a fixed-term commitment?

Pitfalls when choosing an agency

Choosing on the lowest price alone, no separation between ad budget and fee, a vague setup scope, percentage fees without a cap, a success fee without a definition of success, no analytics included, long notice periods, and an account owned by the agency, so you lose your history when you leave. Offers vary widely because scope varies, not necessarily because quality does.
