Ecommerce SEO agency: more visibility, more sales

We grow Google traffic to the categories and products that sell, combining technical SEO, content and analytics. The goal is organic revenue, not a count of keywords in the top 10.

An ecommerce SEO agency that measures revenue

Ecommerce SEO increases the visibility of your categories, products, brands and buying guides in organic search, so that people who can buy find your store. It differs from SEO for a service website. A store can have hundreds of thousands of URLs, variants, filters, sorting options, pagination and a constantly changing range.

We treat SEO as a customer acquisition channel across Google and AI systems. One team covers SEO, content, UX, analytics and performance, so we can compare organic results with product campaigns such as Google Shopping and judge revenue, not a single source. This page applies our wider SEO services to online stores.

When does ecommerce SEO start to grow sales?

First gains in visibility can come early. Stable sales growth takes categories, products and guides working together to lead a shopper from search to purchase. An SEO audit sets the starting point and shows the barriers.

  1. Weeks 2–4: audit and barriers

Indexation of products, categories, filters and variants. Technical errors, duplication, redirects, performance and how search bots move through the store.

  2. Months 1–3: categories and architecture

We tidy the range, add missing subcategories and pages for buying queries, and improve names, headings, descriptions and internal linking.

  3. Months 3–6: growth in buying traffic

More categories and products appear for non-brand queries. Key pages are updated, buying guides go live and link building supports priority areas.

  4. Month 6 onwards: scaling organic sales

New categories, brands, uses and seasonal queries, plus analysis of conversion, journeys and customer behaviour.

What sets the pace of a store's SEO

Every store starts from a different place.

Platform and technical health

WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify, Magento or a custom build. We check indexing, filtering, pagination, variants and Core Web Vitals.

Category and range structure

Whether categories, brands, uses, filters and landing pages match the way people search to buy.

Product availability and release speed

Frequent product removals, missing redirects and unavailable pages limit results, and so does a slow release process.

Competition and domain authority

You compete with brands, marketplaces, comparison sites and large stores. We analyse their categories, content and links.

How we optimise an online store

Store SEO is more than product descriptions. We work on the whole ecosystem: technology, categories, products, filtering, content, authority and the path to purchase.

Category structure

Categories, subcategories and landing pages matched to real searches, built for shoppers and search bots.

Top categories

Buying intent, range, headings, metadata, linking and filters on the categories with the most potential. No text added just for keywords.

Product pages

Names, URLs, descriptions, specifications, variants, images, availability, reviews and structured data, including unavailable and seasonal items.

Filters and indexation

Parameters, pagination, canonicals, sitemaps, robots.txt, 404 errors and performance. See technical SEO.

Internal linking

Menus, categories, products, brands and guides linked so that key areas are reachable for customers and search engines.

Content before purchase

Buying guides, rankings, comparisons, how-tos and FAQs in topic clusters that lead to categories. See content SEO.

Authority beyond your domain

We analyse your link profile, competitors and dominant sites, and support specific sales areas. See link building.

UX and conversion

Navigation, search, filters, product pages, basket, mobile, calls to action, trust signals and drop-off points. See SEO and UX.

Data on what to grow

Impressions, clicks, CTR, non-brand traffic, category visibility, organic revenue, transactions and basket value from Search Console and GA4, plus visibility in AI answers.

Why a product page can beat your category

Search for women's hiking boots and Google may show a single model's product page instead of your category. Shoppers see no choice and go back to the results. In Search Console the product page collects impressions on the general query with a weak CTR, while the category barely appears. The cause is structure: the product page has strong linking and a specific title, the category has an empty top and a generic heading. The fix is a descriptive category title and copy that helps people choose, links from guides and subcategories, and product titles that no longer compete with it.

Filters, facets and indexation

Filters can create thousands of near-identical URLs, yet some filtered pages answer valuable queries and deserve to be indexed. There is no single rule for every store. The decision depends on demand, the range available and the risk of duplication. A red colour filter may have no SEO value in one sector and be a strong seller in another.

Unavailable products need a plan too. Depending on the case we keep the page with a note on planned availability, point to similar or newer models, redirect to the closest equivalent or to the category, or return the right status when the page has no value. We separate a short stock-out, a seasonal product and a model that is gone for good.

Platform limits we plan around

An audit starts by checking what is feasible on your platform.

Platform typeStrengthsWhat to watch
WooCommerceThe most freedom in codePerformance with a large range and plugin management
PrestaShop and MagentoFull control of URLs, canonicals and filtersChanges need developer resources
Hosted SaaS platformsQuick launch and solid SEO basicsLimits on unusual architecture, filters and structured data, and often no access to HTTP headers, indexing rules or URL structure

Feeds, new markets and AI search

Product feed and organic visibility

Feed data such as titles, attributes, GTIN, availability and price affects ads and organic results. A price or stock mismatch between feed and page can keep a product out of free listings. We manage the feed and product page SEO together. We also run our own Comparison Shopping Service (CSS), Feedve.

Stores in several markets

Automatic translation is not enough. Shoppers in different countries use other words and payment methods. We analyse demand, competition, seasonality and product language per market, and handle hreflang, local prices, currencies and delivery. See international SEO.

Ecommerce SEO in the age of AI

Shoppers now ask AI for comparisons and recommendations. Structured product data, complete information, reviews, store credibility and brand recognition all matter. See AI search optimisation.

Mistakes we fix most often

  • Indexing every filter.
  • No separate category for an important buying intent.
  • Copying manufacturer descriptions.
  • Deleting unavailable products without a plan.
  • Categories with no products.
  • No internal linking.
  • Guides that do not connect to the offer.
  • Ignoring the mobile version.
  • Judging SEO without sales data.

How we measure ecommerce SEO

Judging a store by the number of top-10 keywords can mislead. We track impressions and clicks from Search Console, CTR, brand and non-brand traffic, visibility of the most important categories, traffic to product pages, organic transactions, revenue, basket value and conversion.

A report for the board should answer four questions: how much revenue organic search brought, what share of sales it represents, the average basket value from this channel and when the investment breaks even. Two things understate SEO in reports. Some organic purchases are credited to the last click on a paid campaign, and the effect builds over months, so compare quarters.
