The client and the goal

The client is an online pharmacy. We keep the brand anonymous. It needed a strategy that would grow its visibility and the traffic to its site despite the limits on paid marketing in its sector.

The route was organic search. The results below came through SEO, without paid advertising.

The challenge

Online pharmacies are one of the harder sectors for SEO. Regulation restricts advertising for some products, and competition in organic search results is huge.

The question was how to win a better position in Google in a regulated industry. The answer had to rest on content quality and technical optimisation, not on ad spend.

What we did

We combined technical SEO with better content. The work had four parts.

  1. Technical SEO audit

We found errors in how the site was indexed and optimised its structure. Indexing means Google adds a page to its database and can show it in results. This is the starting point of any technical SEO project.

  2. Valuable content

We built a blog with guides on medical topics and answers to users' questions. See our approach to SEO content.

  3. Category and product descriptions

We expanded category pages and product descriptions so that they matched search intent better. Search intent is the goal a user has when typing a phrase into Google.

  4. Link profile

We earned valuable links from other websites to increase the authority of the domain. Read more about link building.
